Russia's Yuliva Skokova has taken the lead in the women's 3,000 meter speedskating event with a time of 4:09.36. We're up to the eighth pair, there are 14 pairs total, including several of the best skaters yet to come.

Jilleanne Rookard, a 30-year-old from Wyandotte, Mich., is competing in her second Olympic Games. She finished 12th in the women's 3,000 meters in Vancouver in a time of 4:13.05. She skates in the 10th pair; currently the eighth pair is on the ice.

Well, that wasn't even close... Feeding off the crowd energy, Graf posts a 4:03.47 to become the race's new leader, while Rookard posts a very respectable 4:10.02, good for fourth place at the moment.

The times keep getting better: Irene Wust charges to the top of the board with a time of 4:00.34 for the Dutch skater. One pair left. Currently the top three are Wust, Sablikova of Czech Republic and Graf of Russia.
